Listening to and working with local people

Consultations

The WEP Planning working group enables consultation to take place in community venues and links business partners and local community people.

Advice and training outreach work and the services that operate from the WEP One Stop Shop base include regular contact with and visits to local community organisations where advice sessions and drop ins are held. This often enables other kinds of engagement to take place too.

Extensive resident consultation has been carried out, including estate wide consultation around environmental improvements. This led to securing the devolution of Camden’s Housing capital budget and the setting up an intergenerational working group to agree resident led environmental improvements.

WEP, through the Healthy Community Project and Headstart Learning Centre, ran a participatory research project where 5 community researchers who were Bangladeshi women carried out research into the needs of Bangladeshi families.

Various young people’s forums have operated at different times and a young people’s community café is developing as a forum for young people, operating from the H-pod building.
