Mohammed Joynal Uddin
Bengali Parents and Tenants Association
Profile
Chair of West Euston Partnership
HideThe reason for my involvement and passion within our community started soon after my arrival to the UK. I noticed that the Bangladeshi community needed support in interpreting and letter writing as well information and advice and at the time they were unable to find such help and support.
I was born in a village called Goy Ghor, Moulvi Bazar Sylhet in Bangladesh. Since my arrival in the UK from Bangladesh in 1975 I have always lived and worked in Camden. Having come from noble blood and being a graduate in both the UK and Bangladesh, I have come to appreciate the diversity of the area, its people and communities.
I am currently a member of the Independent Advisory Group for the Metropolitan Police, founding member for the Camden Faith Communities Partnership, founder member and Chair of the Bengali Parent and Tenants Association, founding member for Standing Committee for Muslim Community Camden as well as director of the Bengali Workers Association.
During the early years of my community involvement I served as a director for the Camden Committee for Community Relations, Governor of Netly Primary School, Chair of the local Police Sector Committee, Director of Voluntary Action Camden, Director of Consortium of Bangladeshi Associations, Director of Camden Committee for Relations, founding member of the West Euston Community Association and a member of the Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education in my capacity of an Islamic cleric.
During my 27 years of active community involvement I have encountered many situations along the way and have gained much valuable experience and knowledge. I am a firm believer that our local area can have a better future if we break down the walls of intolerance. If we collectively work together to unite those diverse communities we will have a better chance of a prosperous future. For these reasons I have served as chair of West Euston Partnership.

Ross Houston
The Crown Estate
Profile
Vice-Chair of West Euston Partnership
HideRoss has been The Crown Estate’s representative on the board of West Euston Partnership since 1998. He is Deputy Head of Housing at The Crown Estate and works in the partnership area at The Crown Estate Housing Office. Ross has been vice chair of West Euston Partnership since 2001 and currently chairs the Healthy Community Project Management Committee. Ross is also a director and trustee of The Third Age Project and a board member of both PCHA Housing Association and Barnet Homes. He is chair of governors at a primary school and a governor at a secondary school in Barnet.
Ross has enjoyed being involved in the partnership and seeing the difference that it has made to the area over the years. The partnership has proved it’s worth and delivered real improvements to local residents. This success is reflected in the fact that the partnership has outlived the initial government single regeneration funding and continued to bring new funding into the area. Ross would like to see the partnership thrive as an independent charity and continue to build upon it’s success. Winning this year’s three years of funding for the Healthy Community Project with a half million pounds grant from the Big Lottery Fund is a great start.

Jean Hurman
Regent’s Park Tenants and Residents Association
Profile
HideI am an active member of a number of WEP subcommittees: the Finance and Strategy Subcommittee WEP Planning Working Group and the WEP Euston Opportunity Area Working Group. I also represent the partnership externally at the Regent’s Place Community Liaison Group with British Land and Safer Neighbourhoods. I represent the Regents Park Tenants Association (RPTA) on the WEP Board.
I see myself as a link between the local community and passing on information from meetings to other groups to help make decisions. For example; in the matter of the British Land lease to Power League for a temporary football pitches and WEP getting agreement for free use by the local community for certain group activities.
I have been a pro-active member of the RPTA for many years, having been Chairperson and helping in administration.
I have lived in the neighbourhood for fifty years therefore understand the problems in the area.
I see WEP as a way of improving the Regents Park Estate to make a healthier and happier place. I want to support the future of WEP so that it will continue for many more years.
