Governance (board, subcommittees, groups)

WEP became a company limited by guarantee in 1997, and registered as a Charity on 29th July 2008. Partner organisations from voluntary, community, public and private sector partners appoint a representative who is a Director and Trustee on the Board of the WEP. The Board met 6 times in 2008-09.  In addition there are subcommittees and working groups.

Charity registration

The registration took place in July 2008, after reviewing and changing the Articles of Association and memorandum of the partnership. The new Objects state that:

The company’s objects are the promotion for the benefit of the public of urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation and in particular in West Euston in the London Borough of Camden and the surrounding area.

Subcommittees

Strategy subcommittee
Reviewed strategy, priorities and monitored the work of the partnership. Made up of 5 Board Directors, including the Chair, Vice Chair, and Company Secretary and 2 other Directors. Met twice in 2008 before the name change and function changes:-

Finance and Strategy subcommittee
Set up in June 2008, reviews strategy, priorities, monitors the work of the partnership and takes on financial control. Made up of 5 Board Directors, including the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Company Secretary and 2 other Directors. Met 5 times 2008-09. On going.

Working Groups

Planning working group: 5 Board Directors, local representatives and staff. Main work 2008-09, Regent’s Place (NEQ) application input to urban design, community benefits etc. Planning agreed April 2008. Section 106 signed April 2009. On going, with a role in community engagement in major developments in the West Euston area.

WEP Euston Opportunity Area Working group
Formed in April 2008. Met 7 times up until January 2009. The group includes representatives from community and voluntary sector groups from St Pancras and Somers Town ward as well as Regent’s Park ward. On going, with a role in the community engagement in the redevelopment of Euston Station and the surrounding area.

Taking forward the charitable status of the WEP. Met until July 2008.

Other groups

Healthy Community Project Steering group
Seven partner organisations meet every 2 months and as required to review strategy and to monitor and manage the Lottery funded work around health and well being. Under review with the new funding from Reaching Communities fund of the Big Lottery.
