About
Camden Council
The relationship with Camden is vital for the partnership and has been the key factor in the continuation of the WEP. Local councilors are Trustees and Directors on the Board and officers from District Housing, Parks and Open Spaces, local Schools etc. attend Board meetings and work closely with the WEP.
WEP is now funded by Camden Council through a commissioning agreement to manage a range of accessible services to disadvantaged communities, under the Community Buildings category of Voluntary and Community Sector funding. The agreement started on 1st July 2009 and will run until March 2011. The funds include salaries for directly employing staff.
The WEP team members were Camden officers for many years when Camden Council supported the WEP. They were line managed within the Culture and Environment Directorate, Community Development and Regeneration Division and previously under the then LBC Housing Department.
The Single Regeneration Budget programme of improvements to the Regent’s Park estate was carried out in partnership with the Camden Housing Department, capital projects team. Partnership working with the new Housing and Adult Social Care Directorate led to an expansion of the innovative WEP neighbourhood based outreach work, helping people into training and jobs.
Camden support has enabled the partnership to draw in considerable external funds to benefit local people.
